I feel like a giddy little child again. To clarify, I feel the same excitement I did while playing Pokemon for the very first time. How is this possible? Easy.

I discovered Pokemon 3D. Wait, what?

It’s pretty much exactly what you would expect. It’s the same Pokemon game you know and love, restructured and redesigned in 3D. The graphics have not been updated to match modern standards, however. Trust me when I say that’s a good thing. Instead, the developers chose to use the same textures and art style from the classic Pokemon games. They are similar to Minecraft or the original Doom’s 3D graphics. If you’re confused by that description then refer to the screenshots.

The best part about the game is that you can play it online by connecting to a remote server. Yes, that means you can play with other Pokemon enthusiasts. You can trade Pokemon with other players or battle them online. In the event that you lose internet access, you can always continue your Pokemon game locally – minus the online features.

Of course, the game is also being updated constantly.

This all begs the question, what’s the price tag? There isn’t one. Pokemon 3D is completely free, and you can download it right now. Instead of droning on some more I’m going to encourage you to go pick it up and start playing immediately. If you want to play online you will need a GameJolt account, which is also free.

See you fellow Pokemon lovers online. If you’re wondering, my profile name is SKULLTASTIC.
