Folks seem to lament Sqeenix’s shift to mobile, and justifiably so.

I’m not a fan of free-to-play titles, especially when it comes to ridiculous IAP. And let’s be honest, the game I’m about to talk about does have some ridiculous IAP schemes going on. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a pretty fun game, and you can get on without spending much – if anything.

So far I haven’t spent a dime on the game and I’ve been playing since release. I’m doing great, and loving the time I invest.

Final Fantasy for Mobile

I want to make this absolutely clear if you haven’t played the game yet. By all rights, this is a mobile game. Don’t expect something different, because you’ll be sorely disappointed.

It uses the same tried and true stamina meter and real-time counters to keep you hooked. There are tons of cards to collect – including ability and job cards – and you upgrade all your gear by collecting and merging them. There’s even an auto-attack feature that you can activate to let the game run while you do something else.

The visuals – provided you have a decent device – are fantastic though. As fantastic as they can be for a mobile game. The story is meh, but it exists, and there’s plenty to do. They seem to be hosting regular – and entertaining – events in the game too.

Check it out if you haven’t already, especially if you’re a fan of the Final Fantasy series.

Already play the game? I’d love to hear what you think about it.

Pro Tip: If you don’t have a device that can run the game – or you don’t want to wear down your battery – use a PC emulator. I recommend checking out Nox Media Player. I swap between that and my phone to play games like this!
