The backlog cometh

The backlog cometh

So, I think it’s time for me to admit that I have a problem.

I need to stop buying games. Just stop, completely.

I have way too many games and not enough time to play them, mostly because I spend so much time on work. Every time there’s a good sale, I’ll nab one or two games that dropped in price until I can get to them. The problem is, there have been so many good and cheap deals lately my backlog is getting ridiculous.

I need to stop.

Recently I grabbed:

  • Horizon: Zero Dawn
  • Watch Dogs 2
  • Nioh
  • Nier: Automata
  • Persona 5
  • The Order: 1886

In the past, I also grabbed:

  • Alien: Isolation
  • The Evil Within
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
  • Sniper Elite 3
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below
  • Uncharted Collection
  • Too many more to count…

No, I’m not trying to rub it in your face. No, I’m not trying to brag. Yes, I understand there are those of you that have no new games to play. I’m not buying most of these at full price. In fact, I buy them when there’s a crazy good deal and that’s the problem, there are always deals.

Once again, I need to stop.

Naturally, I decided to backtrack to the Witcher 3. I’m hoping if I return to some older games I haven’t finished yet, I can get this under wraps.

Back to Witcher 3 for me

I already beat Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, mind you, just not the massive expansions.

I still have Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine sitting there, ready to be played. I started a New Game+ before they launched and just never powered through the game a second time. I don’t have the heart to start a completely separate playthrough just for the DLC. So, it’s been sitting there, not being played.

In New Game+ you have to be level 60+ to start the necessary quests…

Not anymore. I’m going to power-through, level Geralt as much as I can and then hit that DLC then I’m going to finish the entire game. That’s my new mantra, finish a game before I move on to something else.

Well, that and I need to stop buying games that I don’t have time to play. Even if the deal is too good to pass up.

How do you deal with your creeping backlog?
