Briley’s Weekend Haunts [August 17-18]

Briley’s Weekend Haunts [August 17-18]

It seems like every time I unleash one of these things I spend a little time talking about a Humble Bundle. This time it’s because of the Humble Origin Bundle, which is packed with a fuckton of awesome EA games. What’s not to love about it? Plus, all the money that would normally be going to EA or Origin is going to charity!

Naturally, that’s why some of the games in the list will be from the bundle. The rest are just, well… games I want to play.

Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3 to infinity

I played every game in the series including this one. Only, I played Dead Space 3 on the Xbox 360 in the past. I never got around to completing the game, and it always looks much better on PC- if you have a nice gaming rig that is. Thanks to the latest Humble Bundle, I picked this one up for a steal.

I’ll be playing through as much of the game as I can in my free time, and I’ll probably be snapping quite a few screenshots with Steam. That’s my new thing, capturing a bunch of screenshots to upload to my Steam profile. What can I say, I’m easily amused?

The Sims 3

The Sims 3 World Adventures

How could I resist? It came with my bundle purchase, and it’s a damn good game. It’s funny really that a game with such a mundane concept could be so interesting. Control digital people as they live their lives and build relationships. Sounds like an interactive soap opera to me, and if you’ve never played the game that’s a damn good description.

Titan Quest and Immortal Throne (expansion)

Titan Quest Immortal Throne

I have a real hunkering to play a Diablo/Torchlight style game, so I’m going to settle right back into this one. It’s easy to pickup, easy to love and fantastic to play. Enough said.

Oh, and it has online multiplayer too (direct connect or through LAN).

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Final Fantasy XIII-2

I started playing this a while back and then my Xbox fucking corrupted my gamesave. It caused me to ragequit in a flurry and I haven’t returned since. I think it’s high time I go back because I really enjoyed what I did play. I love how Square brought back some of the better mechanics from the original XIII and meshed them with tried and true mechanics from earlier games in the series.

Since it’s such a massive undertaking I doubt I’ll be able to finish the game in two days, but we’ll see. One of these days I’ll finish something.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

The Witcher 2 Kayran

I’m so damn close to beating this game, so close! It’s time to stop messing around, put my front foot forward and trudge through the grimy muck until I’m rewarded with that endgame cutscene. That was a bad analogy actually, because nothing about this game is muck.

It’s a mature, fantasy themed RPG with tons of blood, gore and boobies scattered throughout. Seriously, who wouldn’t love it? Okay, so not everyone loves boobies (news to me). Moving on.

Let’s get this party started…

I was going to play Battlefield 3, but then I realized you have to launch the game through Origin and then your fucking browser needs to be open too. No thanks, I’ll just go back to the console version, inferior control scheme or not.

Meh. I’ll probably just skip it altogether.

Game on bitches!
